Having given up riding performance motorcycles in 2002, Sue and I decided we would have one last association with bikes and buy a Harley

In June 2017 we spotted the perfect Harley for sale close to home on Autotrader at Harleyworld in Chesterfield

The following Tuesday we travelled 65 miles to the dealer to buy the bike in question only to be told that it had sold the previous Saturday

This bike was for sale at 8,000 but the salesperson immediately showed us a bike that was in the showroom for 10,500

When I said "No thanks, that was too much"  he pointed out that they do not usually sell bikes of that year and mileage and wondered off completely losing interest

Seven days later the very same vehicle was still being advertised on Autotrader and ebay

Four weeks later in July I spotted the bike that was to become ours at Bike Depot in Worksop

We drove to the place and bought the bike on a Tuesday which was delivered to us on Friday of the same week for free

We were told that the bike would be thoroughly checked over before we got it so we were very happy

Having had the bike for four weeks and covering a few miles I was not really happy with the gear change so checked the transmission fluid level

The gearbox required about 100ml of oil to be at the level it should have been at had a check actually been done prior to delivery

I would still like to thank Bike Depot for their very helpful and courteous manner

I then discovered that this bike uses the Harley Davidson Twin Cam 88 engine

Now any Harley fans out there are going to know what comes next

Jennings Harley Davidson in Leeds are soon going to do a cam chain tensioner upgrade using the Screaming Eagle conversion kit

This kit also fits an uprated oil pump as well as better cam chain tensioners

The bike is also going to have a full major service

Leeds Harley Davidson are a perfect example of how a workshop and dealer should perform

Their approach to their customers is exemplary

The header photograph shows a blue bike however the bike is very much metallic green
